I bought the Vaio from the outlet last year. Got an absolutely staggering deal given the specs - 13.3", i7, standalone Nvidia graphics, Blu-Ray/DVD burner, 900p, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD (the RAM and the SSD were upgrades, but still, I managed to make them on the cheap). All told, I could probably sell it today for roughly what I paid for it a year ago. There are three things I wish were better on it - sound and webcam leave a bit to be desired and the screen is non-touch. With that in mind, I'm starting to think of selling it while I can still get decent money for it (also curious to hear your thoughts on what you think it might be worth, either in its current configuration or with the original 500GB hard drive installed) and either 1). getting a replacement that would address its shortcomings or 2). making do with what I've got right now.

What I've got right now are:
- iPad 4 (16GB wi-fi), have a Kensington keyboard case
- Work laptop (Dell Latitude, 14", not particularly light)
- Gaming desktop

95% of my portable usage is limited to:
- Web surfing
- Skype video
- Google chat
- Excel/Word
- Listening to music
- Watching an occasional movie

When I travel, the Sony stays home as I generally need the Dell for work-related stuff and I bring the iPad for other things.

With that in mind, it doesn't seem like much of a stretch to forgo the home laptop altogether, bank the cash and stick to the work laptop on the occasions I need one. However, if I were to get a replacement, what would you recommend? My main requirements, in addition to better sound/webcam video/touch screen of at least 900p quality (which I might be willing to forgo if the right MB Air comes along) is portability, so 3.5 lbs and below.

Thanks for looking!

I'm not sure about sound quality...but how about a surface pro 2? You get a great screen, portability, touch screen, etc. In theory you could replace your laptop and ipad with one device.

Yeah, I've been seriously considering that. Hence, selling the iPad as well now :)
