I think so, but normally you'd at least have to sign the check.

I wonder if it would work to have them take a photo of the check, and you take a photo of that with the bank's mobile app?

Not unless you want them to forge your signature on the back. Doesn't BOA have an app that lets you take a picture of the check and they will process the information and deposit it into your account?

Still need to sign it no? They ask you to take a pic of the back too.

How long are you gone that this can't wait?

Call your bank branch and ask to make sure, but generally it's permitted. Rather than signing the back, they'd write "For Deposit Only" followed by your account number and printed name.

With the correct information (name, bank account, etc), anyone should be able to deposit a check into your account (full check only, no cash back).

But, your problem will be with signing the check. If your coworker writes on the signature area "for deposit only" that usually works. I'd ask your bank beforehand though.

The better solution is to ask your business for an emergency check. Get it and deposit it yourself now before the trip. Most companies will do that.

Thanks everyone. Ill ask the bank, and if not possible I will have it sent over seas and use the app. Thanks for pointing that out to me. I will be gone for a long time and I need the money...

Direct Deposits? It's been awhile since I've been paid with a check from a employer.
You'd think moving money around electronically would be kinda cheap but apparently it's not. I was just talking to our secretary the other day & she said we don't do direct deposit because it's not cost effective till at least 10-12 employees want to do it & we don't have enough that are interested in doing it now. Small shop, only about 15 of us.
Might not be able to do a one off direct deposit.

No, actually, you don't need to sign the back. Some banks might reject it but in general if the check is payable to your name you don't need to sign, just endorse it.

I've never signed the back of a check for mobile deposit, I always write "For Mobile Deposit". Back when I first started using mobile deposit that's what the instructions said to do so I've always done it since (even since using other banks). I've never had a deposit rejected.

Unless the OP is desperate for the money not sure what the rush is. Any employer check I've gotten is valid for 90 days.
