When you buy the cds do you get a indepth manual or one that just covers the basics? and does anybody know of anyone selling the cd,s with a good bookor manual? A root question I have a cable connection and I log on as a user but as im doing things it wants my root password for different function But I get tired of allways putting it in. Is there a safe way around this? sence im on a cable connection im concerned about security

There is no safe way that I am aware of to get rid of security functions. Deal with it.

Heh, the way WXP does it is brilliant!

Since XP is essentially W2K with an updated GUI, M$ knew this would cause administration hassles for SOHO users accustomed to 9x's no security model.

So, during WXP installation, if you add any user accounts, they automatically receive Administrator credentials.

Thus, WXP gives the appearance of functioning much like W 9x; such an elevated user account can install apps, run legacy apps that don't conform to sensible directory layouts, or completely hose the system. =)

And sorry, no reasonable *nix would purposely circumvent fundamental security in the same manner.
