Have question for vet seti's

I joined seti a day and a half ago and completed my first WU and downlaoaded last night. It took my PC over 23 hours to complete a cycle. For some reason I dont think this is a good cycle time. What am I doing wrong? I am running CLI and my computer processor is a 1.4 amd athlon on a Tyan. I do not overclock.
And how do I change my setting to crunch more than one WU at a time?
Yesterday I added another p2 350 to my meager garden.
Thanks

You may have just gotten a VLAR (Very Low Angle Range, if memory serves) Work Unit, which takes forever to process using Windows 98. If you connect using OrangeKid's Proxy, it should route those away from you to the machines with OS's that handle them better, like XP and 2K.

Set your screen saver to BLANK SCREEN, use as short and interval as you can tolerate. Also, use a wu caching proggy like SETI Driver.

Congrats on your first work unit! 🙂 Have you joined the TeAm yet? 😀

Thanks for the information. Yes i joined the team that night as well. I moved up at least 20 slots when I downloaded my first WU. What is up with all those Zero's?

Also, make sure power saving features are turned off (You can leave the monitor one on, it won't effect SETI.).

That is way too long of a time no matter what the AR is.
Is your task manager running scandisk or defrag?

Yes, like Micron said, make sure your hard drive stays on.
These power settings are found on the screensaver tab

You want to cache more than one WU but you only want to run one at a time.

No I am not running defrag or scan. My hard drive was set to always on but I readjusted my screensaver to none. I dont have a blank screen setting. Any other ideas?

use a task manager to see if seti is getting 99% of you CPU usage. If not see what the hog is and eleminate it.

Hi aphoenixrises, welcome to the team. 🙂

I'd say with that 1.4 @ 133 fsb you should be at about at least 5 hour wu times.
Let us know what times your getting.

<< Thanks to all think I have found the problem. The darn hog. So I butchered the hog and we are having it for dinner tommorrow. >>

Edit: BTW, Welcome Phoenix! 😀😀😀 Glad to have 'ya! Come on down to the Farm sometime and we'll have a pig roast! 🙂

Welcome to the team!

BTW what was the hog?

You can also speed up your times by tweaking your memory timings by moving your CAS latency to 2 if your memory can handle it.
