have question about memory running in flex mode

i just bought 2x2gb sticks of memory and put them in my machine. i am running 2x2gb sticks and 2x1gb sticks for total of 6gb. when the computer started it said that my memory was running in flex mode. could somebody please explain this to me? thank you
 
This means that it's not running in perfect dual-channel, but not single channel either. How did you place the sticks?
 
Try them alternating (ex: 3GB in first 2 slots, 3GB in 2nd 2 slots)?

If that doesnt work just switch them back and be done with it.
