What do you think I should change?

Thanks for all the input folks 🙂

shouldn't the 9700's be available in mid september? i'm not sure on this but something about them being available at BB for $400 in mid september. also, it seems that on september first, theres supposed to be a price cut on p4's, so a 2.4 will cost you $193, so that might make it worth it to wait. you might think about getting a new burner, since they're so cheap nowadays anyway, you can probably get a 40x lite-on (which you can overclock to 48x) for about $60 from dell when they have their usual deals. you could probably go with a oem audigy seeing how its the exact same thing as a audigy gamer except for the software, unless you really want the software. the case seems to be a bit expensive, you should probably shop around, i'm sure you could get a better deal somewhere else. heres a little advice, you might consider shopping around for lower prices, because i'm pretty sure you could shave some money off that total if you didn't buy exclusively from newegg. pm if you got any questions.

Unless something goes wrong, I'm pretty certain that the 9700 will be out in a few weeks. In his preview of the 9700, Anand said that it would be out in no more than 30 days, which was a week or two ago.

Personally id get these two items at Googlegear.

i would stick with newegg, regardless of the money he is saving. although newegg is a little more for those items, it makes it easier to be sure you will receive all the items if you order from one company, you will probably save on shipping, and newegg is a trusted brand so you can be sure you will receive quality products fast.

It's certianley not the most cost effective...

The ultimate budget system from my point of view would be this one.

AthlonXP 2000+ 120$
KT3 ultra (MSI KT333) 80$
Video Card: *ATI Radeon 9700 - $400
DDR Memory: Samsung 512MB 184 pin 2700 mhz - $175
Hard Drive: Western Digital(WD1200) 120GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache - $172
DVD Drive : Lite-On LTD-163 16X DVD ROM 48X CD ROM - $39

NIC Card : Linksys EtherFast 10/100 - (already have)
Sound Card: Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer - $91
Case Badge: Newegg Badge Case - $5
Case : Chieftec Aluminum Blue 420w & 2 fans - $147
Case Fan : 2x Blue LED Fan - $42
Case Fan : Multi-Color LED Fan - $21
IDE Cables: 2x 24 Inch Blue Cable - $28
Floppy Cab: 1x 24 Inch Blue Cable - $12.5

That by itself shaved off 150$...
Spend that on a really nice graphics card.

Hard Drive: Western Digital(WD1200) 120GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache - $172
DVD Drive : Lite-On LTD-163 16X DVD ROM 48X CD ROM - $39
