I had my old Dell XPS M170 stolen but was fortunate that I can claim a new XPS M1730 on insurance.
I was offered 2 quotations, identical except for the following:
1. T8100 2.10Ghz processor, 160GB disk, Dual SLI 512MB 8800GTX graphics
2. T8300 2.40Ghz processor, 200GB disk, Dual SLI 256MB 8700M GT graphics.
I chose the second one, for the following reasons:
1. I do play games from time to time, but it's not the primary use, not even secondary
2. If after the warranty is up, there's a problem with the graphics, then the 8800GTX would cost an arm and a leg to replace.
I've got a slightly better processor - I do lots of audio/video encoding so really I should go for the fastest processor I can get, but I'm just thinking - aarrggghhhh, I've turned down the chance to own one of THE fastest gpu cards in a laptop, something on which I could never justify the additional expense if I were paying for it. On the other hand, it would just sit there a lot of the time.
