Have I bought the wrong ram?

Hi. So Im currently putting together parts for a new pc. I have an i5-2500k and an ASUS P8P67 PRO Motherboard on pre-order.
I walked into a store yesterday wanting to buy this DDR3 1333mhz ram http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/con...sp?root=&LinkBack=&ktcpartno=KVR1333D3N9K2/4G for $46, but end up buying this 1600mhz ram http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=88 for $79 on the recommendation of the salesman that “it will be better for overclocking”.
I thought it would be rated for 1600mhz at 1.5 volts, however I read here http://gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=1387 from the Gskill tech that “the default is 1.5V and is only good for DDR3-1333” and that 1600 needs 1.65 volts.
So am I correct in thinking that with the 2500k wanting ram running at 1.5v, I will not be able to get the higher priced ram I bought working at 1600mhz?
Ive never overclocked any component before, so any answers you can give me would be appreciated.

There's a chance that the G.Skill may run at 1600 with 1.5V, but no guarantee of course. It would also be very little difference from 1333, certainly not worth paying almost 2x as much.

If you've never overclocked before, then A) why did you buy a K part, and B) why did you follow the advice and justification of the salesman? You should have just gone with your original plan. If you won't overclock, then if the RAM is underclocked back to 1300 or thereabouts then it may be able to run on 1.5V, but it's not a sure thing by any stretch. You can keep the 1600 RAM and do what I advised above, even if it won't go to 1.5 it will still go down to 1.59 or 1.58 or so, which should be safe for the memory controller.

He needs 1.65 volts. Change that, simple.

If you don't OC, the G.Skill should be fine. The real-world differences will be basically imperceptible. Check my sig for real OCing RAM at 1.5V.
