Have I been ripped-off ?

I recently purchased a new mb/proc combo ( Asus a7m266 withT'birb 1.3gh ) but the Bios is readingthe processor as only 1.13gh ( 133fsb with 8.5 multiplier ) . As this m/b does not support different multipliers and should be reading the chip, I suspect I have been ripped-off.

M/B came with proc installed and hsf already placed. Am I going to have to remove the hsf to determine the actual processor installed?

If so, links to a page with id numbers etc would also be very helpful.

Cheers

There's nothing wrong with taking the HSF off and checking. It's not going to hurt anything. Here's a link to a page that shows you what the markings mean.

where did you buy this mobo/cpu combo...the 1.33 should be running @ 10x133 default.

Your motherboard may have changed the multiplier... Did you look at the markings on the chip? It's pretty hard to change a 1.13 t-bird to a 1.33 without anyone noticing. I remember trying to break one of the bridges in the L6 side and I spend 20 hours with many sharp objects only to find that I only scratched the copper. I need to buy one of those lasers that AMD uses.
