Have Folder shortcuts show in folder tree?

For windows explorer, is there way to get shortcuts to folders appear in folder tree. Currently shortcuts only appear inside folders along with files.

The function would be that when user clicks on shortcut appearing in folder tree, user is redirected to targeted folder. This would be very useful and allow user to refer to single folder from many different names.

I'm just trying to get the shortcut to show, files would not display under the shortcut. It would not function like a hard-link.

This would be for either xp or win7
