Abit seems to be a favorite here at this forum. However, I would also consider the Gigabyte P35-DQ6 or P35-DS4. I don't think you will find many problem threads for these two boards here at other forums. I realize that you have had problems with your Gigabyte 680i. We have one of those here too and it is working great running at stock settings with a Q6600 in it. Not a single problem but I guess if we wanted to overclock we would probably not be able to get as much out of it as we'd like.

I'm not interested in overclocking, just in getting a board that says it will run my gear and back it up

What are your specific needs?
Basically any of them should do but a cheaper/less featured mobo may do what you need just as well.

if youre not into O/Cing, any board would do.
i have the Abit's little brother (I-P35-E, more like "little retarded brother that you hide in the closet when guests come") and im very satisfied.

BTW...did you *really* have to post your mouse, keyboard and speakers?....

thanks for the help, I ended up getting an MSI P35 Platinum Combo, love it, works like a dream, I will never go beck to Gigajunk again, it's not so much the faulty motherboard, anybody can have that problem, but the service and non existent RMA was pathetic.
