I have about $1000 CAD from a recent trip up north.
i think i can convert it back to USD at my local Capital One bank.

The higher the #, the better the exchange back to USD right?

It's pretty bad exchange rate right now. But it usually varies between 76 to 80 cents on the USD.

Unless you need the cash, I would wait for better exchange rate. Also you need to shop around, the rate and fees will vary.

Thx.

I also have about 10k pesos (~$500 USD).
The exchange rate has been pretty steady for past 2 yrs at .05 per peso.
Exchange those at Capital One bank?

If you are going to invest it, then its worth it. It wont appreciate much more than 10% - 15% against the dollar in the next few years, but if invested could increase much more.

In 2008, during the worst of the financial crises the Canadian dollar was up to 1.05 US dollars (38% up from here), but I dont see that happening anytime soon.
