Have any of you had this done?

I suffer from chronic pain, so we're going to try this tomorrow. I might not be on very much, because I'll be pretty doped up. Please keep me in your prayers, cross your fingers, send me some good karma or whatever it is you do. If this is successful two times, they'll go in and do this. I'm hoping that it'll work and I won't have to take so many pain meds. :)

EDIT:

Those of you that have my cell number: Give me a call tomorrow (since I won't be online much) and if I can talk, I will. If not, leave me a message/text. :lips:

I like the phrase "relaxation medication" :)

You and me both, babe. I used to get these and I got no feel good medicine. They weren't bad, but I'll be happy for it tomorrow. :D They'll have to give me a lot because I'm so tolerant to medication. :(

Thanks, guys. I'll be leaving in about an hour. I'm looking forward to feeling less pain today, but I hate needles. (For some reason tattoos don't bother me though. lol) So...not looking forward to getting shots in my back, but I'll be sleepy and hopefully won't feel it as much. At least I know, if anything, I'll feel less pain today because I'll be so drugged up. haha

I got home earlier today. For being sedated it still hurt like hell. :( I'm icing the area right now.

UGH

Well, I've been nauseated since I had it done. After waking up around an hour ago I called the place because I was scared that if I ate breakfast, I'd get sick. They said to eat really bland stuff until the narcotics they gave me yesterday get out of my system or I feel better. So.....my mom is off to get me some crackers and jello and stuff.

I also feel like I've been drop-kicked in the back by a donkey. I asked why I hurt that bad and she said that where they shot me might have been narrow to begin with and adding the steroid could make it feel even tighter right now. Hopefully it subsides! So I get to still take it easy for two more days and feel helpless. haha No bending, no lifting, and no carrying. I just got "in trouble" a while ago from my mom for picking up my laptop and pulling it over here to me on the bed. I guess I forget that it's technically lifting.

Hope you feel better soon. I can empathize with your back pain.

I have a heriniated disc at L5/S1 and oddly, that gives me pain at the left sacroiliac joint. I went to a chiro for 5 years (2 diff ones during that time) and it did provide me some relief for a couple of days. Haven't seen a chiro in a little over a year now.

I am not on any meds. As fun as Vicodin can be, you develop a tolerance quickly to the stuff and it IS addictive as hell. I dont' take anything for it currently.

I found that losing 20+ pounds and developing a healthy exercise routine helped me GREATLY. Obviously, my situation is minor compared to yours.

I wish you the best of luck w/these very serious procedures. You're up and posting on AT, so methinks you're gonna be just fine.:)

Ick, sorry to hear about that. I haven't seen a chiro in a couple of years because my insurance back in VA didn't cover it and I just didn't want to keep paying for it. You're right about Vicodin and narcs in general. I take Percocet and a muscle relaxer now and it barely takes the edge off. I do much better when I'm moving more. That's why when I get this stuff done, I want and NEED to get another job. Staying at home isn't the best for me. I'm going to try to join a gym if I can and stay moving that way.

I believe in my procedure yesterday, they got me in a L3, L4, L5 area. I was really sleepy because they gave me Versed and Fentanyl but when they shot me, I'd wake up with a jolt and they'd tell me not to move. I certainly wasn't trying, but it HURT! lol I kept apologizing, but they knew I wasn't doing it on purpose. I vaguely remember at one point feeling the pain almost down to my toes and they said something like....."Well, we know we got the right spot, then!" I hope so!! Next time (I don't know when the next time will be) they'll give me a longer-acting numbing agent. Like instead of a 2 hour period, the next one will be 6-8 hours. If the next one is successful, then we'll cauterize the nerve endings. My grandma asked me if it was worth it and I said, "At the time? HELL NO, it hurt like hell! But, if it all works in the end, then yes. I take SO much medicine right now that if I can get off of it or take less of it for a while...yeah, it's worth it."

We'll see. Congrats on not taking anything for yours. I'd love to get there!!! I did so good when I was working because I was active. Having fibromyalgia and arthritis, when you don't move you get more stiff and it makes you want to move even less. So then you take the pain meds and build up a tolerance and, and, and.... lol

Anyway, I'll probably be online on and off today because I'll be spending most of it in bed. I'm starving and can't wait for my crackers to arrive! haha
