I'm talking about the ones that come with a sticker that says, "Not Dual Channel compatible". Sometimes I see boxes with very similar looking sticks and I wonder if I could use them in dual channel mode.
Don't know about that one. If you were to try it and it didn't work, I guess it wouldn't be a big deal to take the ram back as long as it didnt get damaged. Anywho, Ive heard the differences between dual and single channel isn't really all that great, so it might not be worth the trouble.
I've got 1 stick of 256mb pc2100 kingston valueram + 1 stick of spectek select 256mb p2100(admittedly some very poor stuff, but it was $10). Both running dual-channel w/ tighter-than-rated CAS 2 timings. This is with a stock-speed 2000+ processor. Prime95 passes no matter how long you run it - ran it 10hrs, and then said that was good enough. So, in my case, yes.
I have a stick of Kingston Value RAM 512MB / PC2700. I have it running in dual channel with 2 256MB DIMMs of another brand.
It's rated for 3-5-5 timings and 2.5V, but I run it at 2.5-3-3 timings at PC3200 speed in dual channel and at 2.8V. I never tried it at 2.5v. All this is in an ASUS A7N8X-E (nForce2 400 ultra chipset)
It's funny because I have 2x 512MB Kingmax PC3500 RAM that won't run in dual channel at ALL, even at PC2700 speed, neither wilil, no matter what other RAM it's paired with.
