Have an opportunity for a cheap toy, but the engine is seized...

Have a opportunity to buy a 2001 or newer (not really sure) SDG 107 pit bike for $200, but the only problem is the engine. It's seized. What would I be looking for as to fix it or what parts to look for? Don't really know too much, but since it is really small I'm sure I could do it.

Worst case scenario you would have to replace the whole engine. Try searching ebay for a used engine, and see what it would cost you to just swap it out.

I would get a book on small engine repair and then find out how much a rebuild kit would be for it. Is that a four stroke engine then?

As for what is wrong with the engine it could be a spun bearing, rings getting stuck. Either way, a rebuild kit will have new bearings, gaskets, and rings.

Who makes that bike?

Worst case scenario if its not a big manufacture, you won't be able to get the parts you want easily or cheaply.

If you get the parts, worst case is the jug and head are fubared, maybe even teh crankcase depending on why it is seized.

Basically new engine like stated above.

Best case, cyclnder needs to be replaced along with piston and rings. No other issues and along your merry way. I bet there is $200 spent right there.
