i have a problem with lock on - modern air combat with the sound .
i can hear sound when im loadin the game and when im in the menu and sub menus of the game but when im starting a mission there is no sound no cockpit sound no aircraft sound , missile and etc.
i cant find the problem . at the audio menu its all good and on the cockpit , wind etc

my system can is ,
p4 384 sdram , 120gb h.d , ati radeon 9800 pro 128mb , motherboard d845wn intel (sound card on board)
i also installed the latest update for the game and for the motherboard.
and as i said before i dont have except this game any other audio problem

another thing , when im running dxdiag.exe (the directx file), after i finish doing test to the sound i get this message :
the sound card does not support hardware buffering. sound will only play back from software buffers.

is this the problem ? (let me again remind you that the problem is only when the game starting , at the menus and the loading screens there is sound.

do i need to but a sound card ?

Hey There,

I know where your coming from . (been there done that) . .and hopefully one of these
solutions will help. Okay here we go . . .

1st Soluton: Put your Lock on CD in your Drive and go and find the
Sounds Folder . .and go into the subfolders. Verify that
the folders contents match what is in your Lock-On Sounds
Folder on your Hard Drive. Actually . .screw that . . . .go into
the Sounds Folder on your Hard Drive and rename these files
as such: "Computer" to "Old Computer"
"Effects" to "Old Effects"
"English Version" to "Old English Version"
On your Hard Drive file you should also see a folder labeled "music",
Leave it alone . ..
Okay . .now go back to the CD and Drag and Drop the Origional
files (the ones you just renamed) from the CD into your sounds
folder.
Fire up the game and you should be good to go . .

If not . . . .

2nd Solution You will have to go into Control Panel . .Sounds . . .and disable
the hardware acceleration . . .

Lock-On and Onboard sound has Issues . . .

You also might have to disable Direct X Sound acceleration by
going "start" . . .run . . .and enter dxdiag.exe in the command line
to access the DirectX menu

I am pretty sure that the issue is the @#$&^%! install program for
Lock-On and it butchered the sound files install . ..

Let me know how it works out . . .But a Final Word . .

When you have a chance . . get a soundcard . . .depending on your
system. . . the onboard sound uses the CPU to crunch its algorithim's,
and has a tendency to drop your Games framerate . . .sometimes a fair
bit. Something like even a SoundBlaster Live (had one before) will give
a significant increase in sound performance/quality and its chipset handles
all the number crunching so it takes the load off the CPU. I plan on getting
an audigy 2 pretty soon myself. . . .

Good Luck.
