Have a question about XP...

I have windows XP, and my brother says the computer will work better if I turn the Windows 98 version on in my user settings. Do you know what I mean? Theres an option saying if you want to change it to the win98 layout. Will this speed up my computer at all, or no? I want to boost up the loading of BF1942, I have 512 RAM. 😀

should really post this is os, but i guess i can answer it for ya. The comically dubbed 'fisher-price' GUI and other graphical features of XP takes up more system resources then that of the basic one. It depends on your personal preference and system specs, but it should only boost the actual operation of Windows, not BF1942 or it's loading.....

It will perhaps make things like the start menu slightly more responsive as there are less graphics to chuck about but it won't make any difference whatsoever to load times et al.

Just leave the User Apprearance alone. This will NOT help BF1942 load any faster. With 512mb of RAM the new layout that came with XP will not affect performance. Trust me, you brother does not know sh!t about XP or else he is running XP with 64mb of RAM. BTW, is your brother older or younger?
