i have a sis mobo with poor documentation, it is for a pentium 1\amd k6. the guy i bought it off of tried pc100 ram in it, but it wouldent post and he said it dosent work with pc100 but only pc66, which he dident have any to try in it. does anybody know if it is true, that these motherboards only support pc66? and is it a special kind of dimm? i suppose i can try some of my pc100 in it to be shure, but i dont want to buy a stick fo pc66 if it wont work

Please reference any model numbers, etc that are silk-screened on the mobo and post them here.

I built a fair number of these a few years ago for a program to bring technology to disadvantaged children.

There were a few problems with them at first, but I managed to get around them and get them up and running.

All I need is some model numbers or some such to dust away tha cobwebs.

I've also built a # of these systems. Depending on the mobo, it is very possible that there is a jumper on the mobo that will select between 3.3v ram and 5 volt. The pc 66 is 5v, and the pc100 is 3.3v. If you can get the system to post, then write down the bios string, we can find it from that as well. Good luck!

I'm pretty sure pc66 is 3.3V. Don't think it'd be picky enough to care between 66 and 100, assuming you're on a 66FSB. Some EDO Dimms come in 5V I think, it may want that. I've got a 3.3V EDO Dimm in my brother's system, so it may want one of those too.
