Have a Chieftec/Antec case... where to find front audio ports?

Hi,

I have this case here, and it has a free hole in the front next to the two USB ports, and I was wondering if it would be possible to put audio plugs in there so I could plug my mic and headset in there for video games...

Anyone know where I could pick up something like that?

You may have to make 'em yourself, if you aren't willing to buy a front-panel patch bay (which comes with cables) that fits in a 3.5 or 5" drive bay. Radio Shack has most of the parts - DigiKey has them all.

Dang it! What's weird is that the Antec Sonata cases have the front audio ports.. and I think they would fit in my case...

You could check around at all of the sites of the vendors that distribute that same case - Antec, Chieftec, Enermax, etc. etc. One of them may have a kit as an accessory or repair part.
. Also Radio Shack (and most big box stores and major dept stores like target and walmart) would have 3 or 6 ft. of cables with mini phone jacks on one end and matching plugs on the other (often called extension cables)- you would need one stereo one for the hp's and a mono one for the mic. You could route them thru your case and plug them into the jacks on the back of your sound card.
. You would have to rig a way to fasten them to the inside of the front panel. Perhaps a dab of silicone glue or epoxy.
. Always best to make sure your case comes with everything you might ever need in the way of front panel cables up front... Retrofitting is often a PITA.

Good suggestion... I might try that... I would like to find one made specifically for my case, but custom making it would be an option.

Try this site. They sell audio ports by themselves that you might take apart and use on your pc case.

The other way is to purchase an expensive audigy2 platinum soundcard with all the front ports on a 5.25 inch bezel cover.

Try Directron. They have the front bezels with the ports. They also have different looking ones that fit as well. This is the only place that I've found since I've been looking for a new front for my case. The front door fell off 🙁

That FrontX stuff will solve a lot of retrofit issues. I really like that they have both types of cables for back panel and mobo header connections. They even have both types of serial port dongles, 50-50 and crossed fingers. Thanks Rojas-that's in my bookmarks!
