Have a 915G chipset, 82801FB, ICH6, cannot find driver to get SATA working for an XP install (F6)

I cannot figure out what is going on, I'm about to go nucking futz.

74GB Raptor on SATA 0
Samsung DVD as Primary IDE Master

I put the XP disc in and boot

Loads all the stuff, hit enter for setup, and it says "Examining 70524MB on ata 0 atapi 0" or somthing close to that. Won't get past it

So I remember XP doesn't support SATA without a driver (woops). So I download the one supposedly for my chipset, the 915G (it's a Gatway 508GE which I gutted). All I can find are drivers for 82801FR stuff, and the Gatway site shows I have a 82801FB, which is no where on Intel's site. Well it is, but the pack that the driver is supposed to be in, only has the FR and GZ stuff, has an FBM for mobile, but no regular FB. And Gateway says ICH6, but all the intel stuff is ICH6R or ICH7.

So how the heck do I get the right driver? I've tried loading the FR ones for ACHI or whatever (not the RAID) and still get stuck on "Examining..." every time. What gives 🙁
