I have a Dell Latitude D800 Laptop with a Pentium M 1.7 GHz, but the properties of the My Computer show it running at 592 MHz.

Is there a setting to fix this?

I had a similar problem on a PC, and I had to reset the Bios to clear it up, but that was when I changed CPU's and changed jumpers, but that Mobo wouldn't accept the change.

This situation is different, this is how I got it from Dell. Have not replaces the CPU.

Any ideas?

Is the laptop running on battery or is it plugged in? The CPU speed is often lower when running off of battery to conserve power.

See the sticky at the top of the CPU forum. It explains how some chips dynamically lower their clock speed.
