The problem i am having is getting the computer to see the right amount of ram in the system.

Vista is seeing 2.5 gigs out of the 6 currently in the system.

Could this be fixable through the bios somehow?

I am using Windows Vista 32 bit, and from what i understand is that if there is 4 gigs of ram installed on a 32bit OS such as vista, the OS will only recognize 3.2? out of the 4 gigs. I am not sure how Vista will recognize the 6 gigs i have right now.

I just built a new computer today with this ram.

The motherboard i have is this one.

You need to install 64-bit OS to get the use out of all that RAM. Time to install the 64 bit version. Have fun with all that awesome RAM.

Nope, it depends on the hardware you have installed and how much address space it needs. As everyone said time to get a 64bit OS. You can use your vista licence, just need the 64bit instalation disk.

64bit is significantly faster, identifying more ram is nice, but it is far from the only reason to upgrade. there is no reason to use a 32bit os today.

Are you running SLI or dual-chip card? That will reduce the amount of available memory.
