Hauppauge WinTV-PVR150 problems, problems

I purchased a WinTV-PVR150 on 7/24, followed the installation instructions and it never has worked like it should. I have been working on this thing every day after I get home from work and getting very frustraded. I tried the drivers that came on the installation CD and the updated drivers and apps from the Hauppauge web site. It has worked but not very well. It seems to change with each boot, sometimes video sometimes not. I have only got audio once and it was mono, yet the setting is set to stereo. Each time I reinstall the drivers and software I get an error when I try to start WinTV (WinTV Initialization error. htv=0). I have built several computers and many upgrades, this is the first peace of hardware that I have had this much trouble with. I am beginning to think that this is card is faulty and maybe I should exchage it. I have read many reviews and forums, don't think I have come across anybody that has had the amount of problems I have. I have tried calling tech support, but they are closed by the time I get off work. I have emailed them, but no response yet. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Here is my system:

Abit SR7-8X motherboard
P4 2.4ghz
Radeon 9200 256mb video card
1gb pc3200 kingston ram
2 120gb ide hard drives
Windows XP

how do you have it hooked up and what drivers are using? i have the 250 version but they work the same way...you can pm me if you want and i can try to help you as best i can im pretty famaliar with tv cards and such

Hi, thanks for the replys. I received an email from Hauppauge tech support they had me try a few things, (delete the contents of the prefetch folder and try some fine tuning within WinTV) since WinTV won't even open that was not an option. They said that if this does not fix the problem I may need to return the board. I exchanged it after work today, installed it and it works like it should. It has a good picture, stereo sound, no errors, I'm happy.

The driver that I am using and was using is 2.0.30.23074. When I was reinstalling drivers and apps I was using the HCWCLEAN utility.

Thanks again

If you're happy then I'm happy! I hit some no nos like trying to use FAT32 files and it stopped recording at 4 GB (need NTFS). Also, I had to set up a profile in win2000 with a password in order to get Task Scheduler (and the Win Scheduler) to run at a later time. Just little gotchas!

I did try it but a couple of the stations come in as B&W and no sound. Tweaked the fine tuning in wintv2000 and it works.
