Has anybody had any experience getting the Hauppauge WinTV card (bt848 chipset) to work with Windows Media Center 2005. I recieved a copy of Media Center 2005 with my Action Pak and i wanted to give it a shot, but i haven't found anything that mentions whether the tv tuner card i have is supported. Anybody know about this.

I've searched the web as well as looked on the Hauppauge website and have had no luck finding anything about this. Thanks in advance!

I have an ATI AIW card AND another ATI Tuner (the PCI Pro I believe), Neither work. XP Media Center is very picky about cards and few cards offer the support it needs.

If you are looking into an awesome alternative try beyond TV from snap stream. I am using that now and I am very very happy. it streams to all my PCs via the network and looks great. Better then TIVO interface!

I have had success getting the Hauppauge PVR-150mce working, but it is supported by Media Center. There is a list of supported TV cards on the Microsoft Website somewhere.

I saw a lot of info about Hauppauge cards over at www.htpcnews.com. Might be something useful there? People are always talking about those cards on htpcnews' forums it seems like.

Good luck,
Jeff

I believe that Windows Media Center Edition only supports tuner cards that have a hardware decoder, anything with a software decoder will not work, and i believe the 848 is a software decoder because I have one as well and I tried using it on a media center PC as well...

Ugh .. guess i'll have to purchase another tv tuner card. thank goodness they're kinda cheap nowadays ... I bought mine 6 years ago when it cost ~200 bucks!

Any suggestions for a good card to use with Windows Media Center 2005? I wanna get this up and running badly. I'm excited to use the media center extender for XBOX with a media center pc.
