Hauppauge makes great hardware. I love my 250. I wonder if this is as great. I worry that usb may not keep up with bandwidth needs, specially Hidef. I have a webcam that can choke usb on another pc. Could you imagine how much more this is.

It does say that it will work ON Windows MCE, but I do not think it will work WITH it. I think you will have to use Hauppauge's SW as it will not be recognized as a compatible tuner by MCE.

Those with a hands-on experience: Please correct me if I am wrong.

Do a search on this stick. I beleive another sight was selling something similar but at $40 (?) was $60 but you get a $20 discount for using the google checkout.
Ah, yes, here it is.

I bought one of these from Dell recently for $72. Was worth it, the signal is great...now if I just had a bigger antenna than the one it came with.

looks like software encoding to me:
*Record analog TV shows to your PC's hard disk using our SoftPVR? MPEG-2 encoder. Analog TV recordings will typically consume 1.5 Gb of disk space per hour.
