Hi guys,

I have the WinTV Go capture card ($20 deal from OM poasted a while back). I think it's the WinTV 878 or 848 based PCI boards.

I've been tinkering, and I think you can only capture video with it, right? For some reason I can't get any audio capture. Can anyone confirm? The package came with an offer to get WinTV audio recorder for $9.95, is that what I need?

I downloaded new driver, recorder and WinApp from their website. and turned up the recording inputs

EPOX K7S5A, XP1500+
256 megs
geforece 2 GTS
onboard sound
wintv go board connected to onboard sound w/supplied cable

You should be able to capture the audio; what capture software are you using? I use VirtualDub with my Hauppauge WinTV/FM card, and it works well. Make sure that in the "recording" section of the sound card mixer software that you've selected the appropriate input. If that's not done then you may record silence, even though you can hear the audio through your PC speakers.

BT878 chip has an audio grabber device as a separate PCI entity, these can do that if you have software. Older BT848 just feeds analog audio to the sound card, you can still capture there.

I use AmCap and NanoDVR? I have virtual dub too (i use it to splice and take apart avi's).

I assume I have to run another app aside from whatever is running within wintv32 to capture sound

I'll tinker a bit.

goodtogo: i have this dual ended male cable that came with the package, which goes from output to input (either sound card to vid capture card, or the other way around - it only works one way, i tried it, 'cuz i'm dumb).

thanks guys!
