Hauppauge PVR150

I bought this tuner at CompUSA, a couple of months ago. It worked okay on my x64 system for about 3 weeks, and on the last day of their return period, WinTV came up with a black screen and no sound. I exchanged it at the store for a replacement, but that card had the same results. I reinstalled the driver and software, but that made no improvement.

I emailed Hauppauge support, and they suggested that I download and install an mpeg decoder that they have. But when I tried to install it, the install shield appears, but before anything else, an error message pops up saying that an access violation occurred at 0xC0000005, and terminates the installation. Following Hauppauge's advice, I editted the registry to changes the permissions of the Hauppauge folder, but this made no change to the installation, whether logged in as administrator or user. I have sent them another email, but so far, I have gotten no response. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Could a windows update have done this? Maybe a system restore to the point where it last worked?

It wouldn't surprise me if an update had caused this, but I can't remember any that would coincide with the problem, or would have been related by type. The system restore might be a good idea, but I'm somewhat reluctant to do this, because that causes a whole new set of problems to deal with...only as a last resort.

I just got another response from Hauppauge. This time, they are saying that the program wasn't ever designed for x64, only Vista and MCE, which is contrary to what their advertisements say. I find it odd that they are supporting an OS that hasn't even made it out of beta, but not x64. Especially since I have spoken with others that have this working on x64, and I did also for a few weeks. I'm really getting tired of being jerked around, so I asked them for a refund of my purchase price, though I doubt that I will ever get it.

Does anyone know of a tuner that will actually work on x64? I mean someone with first hand knowledge, not just something that they read.
