PS2 will not work well because the video is hardware encoded so there is a delay between pressing buttons and seeing the result on the screen.

That shouldn't be an issue. This should accept RCA or svideo-inputs so you can watch your PS2 on your monitor just fine.

After installation and testing, I get the same effects as the above poster. My PS2 just lags by a sec or 2. I'm kinda curious why, I saw someone playing GTA:SA on their PS2 that was plugged into a Sony Vaio machine and playing on the monitor, and it had no lag. This isn't a huge thing as the main reason I bought it was to convert VHS to DVD.

On a side note, is their any good free software that will go good with this card? I've installed all the included programs and I have to say I'm not impressed. The DVD software seems like the only worthwhile piece of the whole bunch.

Can't you switch to line-input and turn off recording, so you just see the live signal? In other words, turn off the recording and all other functionality and just use it as a converter from your PS2 to your VGA monitor? There's typically a setting to do exactly this.

The Hauppauge does not pass through live recordings. What you see (from any inputs) is always the mpeg encoded video. Because of this, you will always see a 1 or 2 second delay.

I don't think the Hauppauge cards can do this. All video you see is always encoded mpeg -- you never see the raw unencoded video.

I picked up the PVR150MCE from Amazon a few weeks ago, but have been unable to get it installed properly. XP's Device Manager gives me a "Code 12" error - it can't find any free resources to use. Even after disabling a half-dozen components (com ports, ps2 mouse, lpt, etc) and removing a few PCI cards, it still doesn't show up. Hauppauge e-mailed me a support response repeating basically everything I had told them I had already done. Very helpful.

Unfortunately, whatever resource it's trying to use it's not reporting, so I can't determine what specific irq or i/o it's conflicting with. I've changed it's slot already with no change in behavior. Wish me luck
