Hauppauge 250 vs. Leadtek Deluxe for Video Capture

I am building a computer system to use mainly for converting VHS tapes and home movies to DVD. I want to know which card will give me the best video capture. I have read many reviews on both and have not been able to come to a conclusion on which is better. The Leadtek is cheaper but I do not want to save a few dollars and have a noticeable decrease in video quality.

The machine I am using is a Dell Pentium 2.5 with 512k of memory and 200 gig of hard drives space. When it is going to be used for video capture, I will not be using the computer for any other tasks. If the computer is free to do the video capture, will it be any different than the Hauppauge card that does it on the card?

Any opinions would be appreciated.

hello,

i can't comment on the Leadtek but ive captured over 200 hours of video with my Hauppauge 250 and never had any trouble. I've basically done the same thing you're looking to do. The DVD quality ends up being every bit as good as the original source. the only compliant i really have with it is the bundled software kinda sucks, but it works.

for what it's worth the machine it's running on is an athlon 2100 with 512 ram

hope this helps
