Well, I got the Hauppague 500 in December for my HTPC. If you didn't know, the 500 has 2 tunners allowing two different chanels to be recorded or viewed at the same time. Some channels, such as 7 or 48, look really messed up, and the only way i have found to fix this problem is record something else on another channel which makes the picture look better. I think the problem is one of the tunners has problems decoding those channels. The weird thing is that the tunner doesn't change when you start recording something else. So I guess my question is if this is due to the drivers I have, if there is some decoder I need for WMC, or if it is a hardware issue.

That sounds really weird. I have 2 500mce's and have not seen your problem.

You might want to try uninstalling all hauppauge drivers using the hauppauge driver cleaning utility and reinstalling the latest drivers.
(you need to run the update driver wizard for both tuners, one at a time that is)

I have the same card and I haven't seen that issue either. What decoder are you using?

If you are viewing TV through MCE, you must have some decoder installed already. MCE doesn't come with a decoder. Nvidia is a common one, and there are a couple others.

Did you build this system yourself? Or buy it at a store?

You can try Nvidia's Purevideo decoder or Cyberlink's PowerDVD (or MCE solution)
Intervideo's WinDvd will also do the job
