So for the last few nights (and ithink once while I was at work) my computer has turned itself on. I turn it off at 11pm, and my uptime meter on Sidebar is around 7.5 hours.

Anyway, what could cause the comp to turn on randomly. I put it together friday - could a bad connetion to the motherboard do this with this must consistancy and timing?

Sonata II Case
msi k8n neo4 plat
3000+ Venice
Mic antispyware set to scan at 2am everyday (just turned it off)

TIA

Yea, maybe a bad connection with the button thing on the mobo. Otherwise ... maybe a scheduled startup time in some weird BIOS? 🙂

Perhaps a Wake On LAN or Wake On Modem option is on in the bios?

And the PC wakes to one of these.

That used to happen to a friend of mine. He ended up using it to his advantage. If he was near the telephone (which is on the other side of the house from his computer), he'd just pickup then hangup, and his computer would turn on. By the time he'd get to it, it'd be booted. lol

i had the same problem, it has to do with the modem and some startup thing that is automatically enabled in the bios of the newer modems. well it figured everything time the phone rang the pc started.

lol wierd...ill check that out in the BIOS. I dont have a modem on my mobo or in the comp at all though. Ill figure something out I guess....
any other reasons?
