1st of all the System over-write disables your Sound Mixer and deletes any Sound profiles you have. Screws up any sound recording app you have like Audition, I-Sound or say a Screen Video Capture App.

2nd: Defender goes rampant and blocks Apps like Adobe Audition, HardwareMonitor Pro, PowerISO... etc. To get them back up and running you have to go through grueling procedure - like this:

[WinX Defender Hates this App]

Ensure it's and Exclusion in Virus & Threat Protection Settings/Manage Settings/Controlled Folder Access/Manage controlled Folder Access/Allow an App through Controlled Folder Access.

AND that it is "DISMISSED" in View Security Dashboard/App and Browser Control

NOW YOU KNOW WHY I HATE WINX DEFENDER

What the System auto Over-Write with WinX version 2004 - Yesterday ;o(

Then on top of it all you have run Disk Cleanup, to delete Gigabytes of the old system perform multiple Reboots after Reboots after hours of tweaking the system and running CCleaner to ensure you have a clean Registry BackUp.

Then run Macrium Reflect PE or Ghost.EXE onto a 32GB Thumb - GEEZ!

Plus you have to clean out: Windows Logs, Windows Temp, User Temp, Software Distribution Download... etc.

"It's called Windows 10, no one know what WinX is."

You nailed it ;o)

Defender isn't all that Bad - Providing you can manage it and it doesn't delete your most important files. It's just Microsoft makes Defender just about unmanageable with their antics.

By the way Microsoft's Windows 10 System Update will automatically enable Defender ;o(

That's the way it is. You are not the only one.

Yep, just put the software in question in excluded apps/folder.

So what are you all doing wrong?? I have never had a single issues with Defender!
Sounds to me like yuo have issues that are not related in anyways to Defender or Windows 10!!
I have bsound files and sound recording apps and all sorts pof video editing apps with no trouble from Windows 10 - 2004 or Defender!

That's a lot of moaning...

It was already pointed out, but worth repeating: It's Windows 10 (Win10, W10), not WinX.
It's a trademark, so don't treat the "10" as a version number (integer) and don't convert it. It's also not "Windows Ten" (even if we read it like that), "Windows A" or "Windows 1010".
There's some added confusion as well. I honestly opened this discussion because I though you're a beta tester for Windows 10X.

As for your issues:
1) over-writing some sound-related settings - I honestly have no idea what you're talking about. I've never heard of anything similar and I'm no stranger to sound editing on Windows.
You've either done the setup incorrectly (manually replacing Win files?) or there's something wrong with your Windows installation.
If you expect help with that, post some details (logs, screenshots etc).

2) Defender interfering a lot... well, that's what an antivir/security suite is supposed to do.
Adding files/software to excluded list (much like opening ports) is a standard procedure (but don't overuse it!), so you either haven't used an antivir before or you've used one so bad that it didn't do anything.
Defender is far from being the most aggressive as well.

Generally speaking, almost all issues that people report on "enthusiast forums" are caused by modifying software installations, meddling with Windows registry, ignoring crucial updates etc.
Don't touch anything you really don't have to and enjoy the ride. Today it really is almost as trouble free as in the Mac world.
When MS causes a real problem, it usually applies to majority of users, so they quickly fix it (or at least patch, rollback an update etc.).

RLGL, JEDIYoda and piokos: Surely you guys are Microsoft trolls - As if it's a corrupted install or needs to be rolled back is not believable. You have not read where I said Defender was not effective other then I insinuate it is a pain with hidden doors to manage.

mxnerd gave the best answer as he has shown to have the most knowledge on this matter.

Your answers are useless and foreboding and I recommend no one heed your advice's on this matter thank you.

Calling members trolls is not allowed. Especially those trying to help.

Thankfully we are not rookies in working on our computers! But that is ok! Then don`t solicit from everybody for answers....
