Hate to ask but need a lil help here

So, I have this issue, and its driving me crazy.

A7vmx
4200 am2
Ultra 600 psu
4 gigs ddr2 800 gskill ram
160 gig seagate sata drive
bfg 9800gtx+oc 512mb video card
24in hp lcd connected via dvi

So, here it is. I power up the computer and it will fire and looks like it will post with just the power going to it. Then, as soon as I plug in the dvi cable to the video card, it wont post, boot nothing. The fan doesnt even turn on on the video card. The cpu fan, the case fans, etc start right up. I looked, and it looks like the dvi cable connector could be touching the case slot divider on the top side. Would this cause it to not boot? This is really weird...

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

a few suggestions I have...

when you boot up without monitor attached... is video card fan stopped? or only when monitor is attached?

check external power connector on video card and make sure it is snug

give the video card a little wiggle or reseat it to make sure you can get the DVI cable plugged in all the way...if it's not maybe this is interfering with the grounding somehow.

try different slot if possible

try different PCIE power connector on video card

found it. one pin on my dvi cable is short probably shorting out inside. i dont have another one here, so i have to get one from work tomorrow. i will let you all know for sure then...
