What is hate speech and what is the social and moral responsibility to negate its fermentation and links calls or ultimate acts of violence?

The welcoming/toleration of such extremism all too warps a society to extremist fringes. The majority of reasonable people of this world are understandably discouraged from participating in discussions where extremism rants the most.

Justification to genocide, right down to the offspring:

Beyond a doubt, generalised hate speech, right down to dehumanising of the targeted group and through to equivalent classification against their offspring as threatening enemies.

That is text book hate speech.

Generalised tribal hatred and dangerously naïve ignorance are most commonly the enemy of civilisation.

Such an all encompassing declaration is an active incitement to hatred and often leads to crimes. The acceptance of hateful bigotry in targeting a group for marginalisation, particularly in dehumanising terms, all too predictably encourages the most vile of crimes.

To declare unknown Muslim neighbours and likely fellow peaceful citizens absolutely as an enemy, is the work of hate-spouting extremism on par with Nazi brownshirts who rallied against sub-human Jews, or Hutu powermongers who agitated their base against invading Tutsi's cockroaches.

So, you found something on the internet that offended you? Imagine that! BTW, I don't believe in that point of view, but he is free to express his opinion. We don't have to like it. Many people around here say many things that many of us don't agree with, myself included, but this is the culture of this particular forum and the rules here are much different than the other forums we have on AT. I guarantee you within 30 seconds I can find much worse stuff on the internet than what you've found here.

You seem to have combined the opening of a general discussion with a specific complaint about a poster. Your complaint about him doesn't belong on the open forums. There's a report button, so use it and let the moderators take care of it. A quick search would have shown that he's received infractions for this before.

I have had hate speech spray painted all over my car, and my back tires slashed and my tail lights broken out about 30 years ago by idiot people on drugs who lived down the street I never even spoke to before. And I had other hateful incidents occur out of the blue since then.

30 years ago, they didn't even have the internet then, and it was just one idiot talking stupid crap to another idiot was all it took.

Just a little reality check for you.

Basically, if some angry bigot wants to do something bad, they will just do it, they don't even need any provocation to be hateful idiots.

And when I thought about it more, I had to also add this little part in; remember the Republicans actively used political hate speech against gays and gay marriage to help get Bush elected to office on 2 occasions by the religious conservative right. How do you think me and my partner of 30 years felt about being used as a political pawn to be martyred in the court of public opinion by the Republican party for nefarious and hateful election purposes?

In my opinion even though I do not agree that all Muslims are our enemies. I would say that I believe that a majority of Muslims want to see harm come to the United States or Israel!
I also believe that not enough Muslims are taking a stand against radical Muslims!
there are some that are taking a stand but for the most part the ones who are silent and not involved IMO are either scared or repercussions or secretly they approve of the attacks on the US!!

I also believe that for the most part the Muslims who live in America want to raise their family, pay their taxes and be left alone!

But in general -- yeah Muslims are not friends of the United States!

I think it is rather ironic the OP used the Nazis as his example of why hate speech should be outlawed. The nazi's outlawed their own form of hate speech. They called criticizing the govt a crime and tossed hudreds of thousands Germans into camps because of it.

Yet in this country where hate speech is allowed we have pretty low incidence of actual hate crime. Perhaps bottling up the rage isnt the best way to deal with the situation.
