What are the chances of talking to the boss and asking to be 'not managed' by the vp of engineering but only report/work with him on engineering projects...i wonder, and not get fired for it. :p

some might remember i've created several threads bitching about him...just can't get along man...keeps me awake at night, pisses me off to no end...i cannot see him as my manager anymore.

anyone ever tried anything like this?..assuming the boss likes both of us equally.

your better off finding employment elsewhere...when your work is keeping you up at night and your plotting your VPs demise, its time to move on

Your only leverage is your willingness to leave employment. If you go in telling them you don't want him to be your boss anymore you better be prepared to quit if they fail to act. In reality your best bet is to find a new job and just quit and tell them when you do quit that you are quitting because of him and detail all your encounters with him but keep in mind you will be burning a bridge doing this.

If you are a valuable employee, then you can request to work under the management of another boss...

but if you're an ordinary joe schmoe that can be replaced, then your SOL.
