Haswell GPU rumor roundup

I've seen the latest charts on Haswell, and it appears there is a continuation of the current Ivy Bridge HD4000, and a higher tier model, a HD4600 that has a switchable mode.

Is this what you guys gathered? I have an i5 and the HD4000 is impressive for an iGPU.

It sounds like the high end Haswell will attempt to solve part of the memory bandwidth problem with CrystalWell-
"Haswell will do what Ivy Bridge didn't. You'll see a version of Haswell with up to 128MB of embedded DRAM, with a lot of bandwidth available between it and the core. Both the CPU and GPU will be able to access this embedded DRAM, although there are obvious implications for graphics."

Being impressed with my HD4000, I'm looking at making my 5870 the last discrete video card I purchase. I'm personally waiting for Broadwell, though if something major breaks in this machine before 2014, I'll pickup the high end Haswell with the onboard CrystalWell memory.

Broadwell being the major redo of the iGPU after Ivy Bridge sounds like the ticket to me. A Broadwell i7 with 128MB+ of CPU/GPU memory is what I'm targeting for my next system.

Please fill me in on all the rumors you've found on Haswell as I'm curious on the top end SKUs.
 
As it is now, there is no memory bandwidth fix. No embedded DRAM. Crystalwell is a Charlie thing that aint reported anywhere else. Any memory boost will happen via the L3 SRAM cache. Just as previous.

The first "fix" will be Skylake with DDR4.
 
i hope i can remove the IHS then take a soldering iron and burn the crap out of the IGP because its an insult to my desktop to even have it in there.

The IGP actually allows you to overclock higher due to lower temperatures. Thats atleast one benefit of having it.
 
But at this stage with the amount of ES samples.

Considering the desktop isn't getting GT3 I wouldn't use ES samples as proof Crystalwell isn't happening. Although if Charlie was right about the extra $50 Intel wanted for it, it's possible it got cancelled for lack of OEM interest.

Ah crap. I was hoping on the GT3 for desktop. I guess we'll see when the CPU is launched though to be sure. I can afford to wait till Haswell or Broadwell, maybe even Skylake. No pressing concerns with my current system.
 
How does an IGP help you overclock?

Dark/low heat silicon area helps the cooling. Also obviously seen on the heat distribution for the cores on SB and IB. And no, replacing that area with more cores would have the opposite effect. Since the heat/mm2 would increase and not decrease.

It creates a larger contact point to the IHS which in turn results in better cooling. It also makes the chip a crap-ton cheaper for you since the masses who are subsidizing the chip demand an iGPU. I've never heard so much complaining over 50 cents worth of silicon. Not directing that at you, just enthusiasts in general.

quite honestly it sounds more like a wives tale than something concrete.
Fo' Realz Bra. It'z like what i say about them car brakes. Small is just as GG as big/ wifes tales all around up in har. Physics isn't nuttin
