For some reason it seems all the entusiasts have completely missed this.

Couldn't this be DDR4 reference test platform for workstation grade products? Where does it state it is a desktop test platform?

Who would ever build a workstation in a POS case like that :p

In my eyes, anything but a MiniITX is a POS case. And even then, its not gonna be easy! :p

People who use cases are the ricers of the computer industry.
You just use a bare motherboard and power supply sitting on your desk?

But yes, that case is hideous. I wonder if he drives a car with the underside lit up at night.

I'd say that a rig like that will be my next build, but I can't help but wonder "why". I hope intel releases a 6 core Haswell along with this, because for gaming 6 cores will easily cover that need for a really damn long time, especially with HT.

There will be 6 core Haswell-E SKU as well.

Nice. The 8 core would be great for posting some nice benchmarks, but for a guy like me 8/16t is such overkill, even my enthusiast itch doesn't crave something like this to scratch it.

Even if there wouldn't be a 6 core H-E, I'm sure there will be plenty of 6 core SB-E/Ivy-E X79 users who will be looking to make the upgrade to 8 core

I have already seen this, but with no new details I just glossed over it. I just hope the Octo-core will OC to 4 GHz+. Well there is the detail of a TDP range of 120-140W. I was hoping for 150W for decent stock clocks on the 8 core part.

Funny how you feel that moonbogg.

I'm at the SHUTUP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - itch for a 8\16 HW-E.

(Unless skylake gets leaks of somehow being godlike (+25% IPC\6 core mainstream).

Daijm .. such 8 cores and 64G DDR4... given current trends (cpu iterations, consoles, os'es) that could easily be a 10 year rig.. Problary more.

ed :really wish my old 9450 hadnt crapped out.. will have a hard time justifying upgrading to haswell-e in a year.

With HW-E being 6/8 core only (no mention of a quad); I'm guessing there won't any 6 core Skylake.
