About the onything I see as interesting with Haswell other than motherboard features.

Anybody try it and got it working?

At same clocks any speed advantage?

Do you just change the strap and leave bclk at 100? Making sure memory is inline also of course.

I read that an Intel engineer stated higher bclk same overclock can effect temps for the better.

I also read that most Haswell chips should be capable of 167 strap.

I read last night somebody also tezted 500+ chips and best he got was 7.3ghz on ln2.

Thanks for any input.

And does it work with a non-K processor? I'm still waiting for an unequivocal yes or no on this from somebody who's tried it.

It has been stated (on this forum, didn't bother to check) that it's a K only feature.

No i3 overclocking.

Does not work...yet. I say yet because it may be a BIOS issue. I have yet to see Intel state it is not available. Like I said in my review, the option is available and the BIOS does all the proper calculation and adjustments, but the comp freezes shortly after boot.

I still hold out hope.....although very little.

Can't get it to work on my 4770Ks (on a MSI-Z87GD65).
Only tried the 125 strap, with appropriately lowered RAM and CPU multipliers.

Hang on, the CPU strap only affects the CPU right?
It's the BCLK that affects everything.

I'm not sure how it works foresure. From what I was reading last night it looked like you just change the strap setting leaving bclk alone. How did you try it?

There are some asus videos on youtube sbowing it somewbat I think. I remember seing the page with overclock profiles saved. 195bclk, 197bclk, etc.

I think so.

Maybe a SB-E guide might clear it up. I'll have to look around tonight as phone surfing the web kinda sucks.

A Gigabyte bios
The strap is called "gear ratio"
The old baseclock, 'host' now linked with the pci-e clock is the one above it

Most BIOSes are still work in progress.

For the Z87X-OC I think you need the F6c beta BIOS to get BLCK straps working.

I assumed that the BCLK functioned as an "offset" so to speak, ie. a BCLK setting of 110 with a BCLK strap of 1.0 = 110MHz, BCLK setting of "110" prior to switching to a BCLK strap of 1.25 = 135MHz.

So I left it well alone. Now it seems that MSI's BCLK strap selection is broken and should be left on "Auto", while manually ratcheting up the BCLK setting :

"**Strap setting in BIOS still appears broken.. must leave bclk strap selection to Auto and enter bclk manually to boot outside of '1.0' strap range."

Sweet, there is still hope for the non-K CPUs then if it is broken in the BIOS.

I hope non-k chips are eventually able to be overclocked through straps. With the small overclock headroom and missing TSX on K chips the non-K chips would be the better purchase with this ability for most people.

If anyone has any confirmation that this is a no go, please share.

Anand stated in his Haswell writeup that it is a k only feature.

edit: I'm too lazy to go find it inside, but I just read the article.
