Haswell and PSU problem?

I just bought i5 4570, Asus Z87-A and Chieftec BPS 750W c2, it first boot it refused to post, no beep and CPU defect led is on, I presumed bad mobo or CPU
After 5-6 power on/off from case and from wall it managed to post fine, tested stability and I put 2x 7950 at max load all just fine

After first power shut down, again no post, when it manage to post (I need to do a power off from wall and few start up) i get bios message, Overclocking failed loaded default??? (no OC mobo is at default), I tried disabling C6 and C7 same problem, also i tried removing all extra HW, leaving just ram and integrated GPU but same happened

Then i switched old PSU LC Hyperion 700w and it works gr8 I am using it for the last 24h no issue???

Also i did a quick test with Sandy bridge mobo+cpu+ram and no post issues with Chiftec BPS 750w, but i did not use any high end GPU

Is this PSU compatibility problem?

The PSU is probably defunct, since I don't see how it shouldn't work. If there was a problem with compatibility it would be with the GPU, so yeah, probably defunkt PSU.

Just return it and use the warranty if it has one, some low quality PSU's don't have a warrant though and you should check with the shop you purchased it.

I returned PSU they tested and sad PSU is fine (now i am waiting for refaund), also using same PSU on Sandy Bridge i tested 20-30 power up cycles just fine, no issue

I don`t think its a PSU

Actually, it could very well be the psu, esp. given your new setup is working perfectly with another ps.

I'd be willing to bet the Chieftec ps is programmed with its startup voltages/timings/etc. too tightly regulated. Or maybe the +5V VSB rail isn't set or working correctly. But I'd be willing to bet the problem lies within that box you call a power supply.

While there are ATX specs for hold times, etc. for a power supply, some manufacturers/resellers play rather fast and loose with them, esp. the smaller resellers and less than stellar manufacturers.

At asus forum there are more ppl with the problem, they use it like that, i bet its PSU like some ppl sad!

Someone need to investigate this, i had P67 B2, SSD 320 and now THIS!!!!!!!
Intel damn you!

I doubt this is Intel's problem. This is probably a PSU manufacturer cutting corners and not adhering tightly to spec. This kind of thing is something budget PSU mfrs are pretty well known for.

Sure but Chieftec BPS is their top line, ppl with corsair have same issue!, sure its some PSU hickup at the post but intel should be smarter!

Now i don`t know which PSU to buy just few have haswell certificate and hell know if they all are 100% fine with it!

Intel is squeezing for low power consumption, which is pushing the limit of the ATX specs as well. They aren't doing anything wrong in my mind. It's exposing weaknesses in PSU mfrs who haven't adhered closely to the spec.
Yes, it's a widespread issue among PSU mfrs. But the PSU mfrs is where the issue lies. I don't blame Intel for pushing the limits... that's what they should be doing, and that's what I want them to do.
