Haswell 4670 3.8ghz vs Ivy Bridge 4.2 Ghz

Hi everyone, I am a long time lurker in these forums. I just need an expert's opinion on the above.

I have a 3570k system with an asrock z77 running at 4.2 Ghz

I also have a pre-owned 4670 non k system with an MSI h85 mobo that I happened to chance upon and got a good price for it.

All my other components can be transferred over if needed.

Therefore one system will be used for gaming while the other will be used for surveillance system.

Now, just based on the performance of the haswell 4670 @ stock vs 3570k system @ 4.2 . Which one will be a better fit for gaming ?

My surveillance system will be using ISpy . My Gaming system will use a r9 290 with 1440p screen.
Further more the surveillance system will be run 24/7 with a hd 7730 powercolour 2gbddr3 gpu a will also act as my backup station cum file server

Thank for your help.

They will be very, very close in performance, imo. I would probably use the Haswell for the gamer because a 4790 can be dropped into it later if mp games get stuttery.

The Ivy Bridge will probably be slightly faster, but Haswell is on a newer chipset. I'd probably use the latter.
