How is it possible for people to be this dumb? How? I'll tell you how. Religion.

"Hasselbeck explained that she feels the pill disrupts pregnancies after conception, the point where she believes life begins. 'It's the same thing as birthing a baby and leaving it out in the street!' she declared."

Seriously. How can people possibly be this messed up?

She believes life begins at conception. Fine. But this is like saying lethal injection is as bad as starving to death. That's ludicrous.

Looks like she was trying to fit in with the other people on that show.

Guest host Lisa Loeb, 38, then called Hasselbeck's views "extreme." And Behar questioned her sharply. "So you would say that a 12-year-old girl . . . who's been raped by her father or her uncle should proceed to term because that's 'a life'?" Behar shrieked.

How can people take other people serious when they resort to such extreme cases to prove their point.

It's "The View", what kind of moron would take anything said on that program seriously?

You have a good point there.

what does the morning after pill have to do with conception?

doesn't it *prevent* conception, thus preventing abortions?

Yeah, they obviously are all idiots, but her analogy is far and away the most ridiculous point made. Not to mention the fact that it's based on her BELIEF that is utterly impossible to prove and not based on fact. I can't imagine having that strong of an opinion about something that I didn't even know for a fact was true. "I believe life begins at conception." Good, you believe that. But you don't know it for a fact and can't prove it, so how can you get so worked up over it?

People cant prove a lot of things, doesnt mean they dont believe in them. I dont see the point in harping on somebody for their own belief. I mean can you prove life doesnt begin at conception?

No, I can't, and that's why I don't get riled up over birth control pills or morning after pills.

If a girl has her period and doesn't get pregnant that's as bad as the morning after pill because she's wasting an unfertilized baby's life :(

It does, but I believe it's also intended to prevent a fertilized egg from adhering to the uteral wall. Unfortunately my own experience has been that it doesn't always work . . .

Perhaps people are confusing it with RU 486?

I understood that it does - most of the time - prevent the sperm from fertilizing the egg. However, some times, it prevents a fertilized egg from attaching to the uterine wall. I think it does both to make sure it can prevent when possible.

I think they just don't understand the entire process and how it works. First this drug is only 86% effective. Secondly, yes it does prevent pregnancy by preventing the fertalized egg attaching to the wall...assuming it was actually fertalized.

To me it's all about where life begins, and aparently some people have so little an understanding about reproduction they think eggs are instantly fertalized after sex. I would believe this lady also supports banning sex ed, because it's obvious she knows nothing about sex other than how to lie still till her husband's done.

You mean like if two men were to get married it would "Destroy the sanctity of marriage" as a whole?

She was stuck on that island (Survivor) for how long?

No wonder her brain shorts out on occasion (being a raving wingnut doesn't help either)

This is why women are so incapable of discussing real world issues rationally. Emotions get in the way. Too much estrogen.
