Has USPS been getting lazy?

I was home ALL day. I got all my junk mail and bills, except my USPS package. They didn't even ring the doorbell. I'm pretty sure they didn't even bother to carry the package here. Just had their 'delivery' slip, which they left amongst the mail in my mailbox.

I'm in a house, not a huge apartment complex where they'd have to hunt me down. This is just pure laziness. I'm sure this has happened to me before. A friend also mentioned he gets these 'delivery' slips without the actual attempt.

If they're not planning to actually deliver the package, they shouldn't put "Sorry We Missed You! We ReDeliver for You" on that slip. Just say "Get your package at the post office, we're lazy". grrr

edit: I guess I should rephrase my title. They're not going down the drain, but seems to be getting lazy.

Yeah, they do that all the time. Travel all the way to your front door with a package, just to leave a slip of paper and store your crap for another day in their warehouse. They love that.

I can understand that, but at least they should tell us that they're not delivering packages! Or ring my doorbell to let me know it's at the post office. I could have gone to the post office if they let me know. Instead I have to wait until the next day.

Complaining on a message board isn't going to do much good. Have you contacted the postmaster? You don't happen to live in or around Grand Rapids, MI? The Inspector General of the United States Postal Service is investigating several branches for "possible improprieties."

I was curious to see if other people also get 'delivery' attempts that never got made. I'm on the east coast, not MI.

Most of the time I wouldn't have noticed, since I wouldn't be around. This time, I was around and I noticed. :p

Still great.

You're right. I'm being too rash. They're still good for regular mail. However, I feel like they should at least also deliver my packages also instead of making fake attempts. It was probably the size of a textbook, but a huge tv.
