Now he will go on the PUP list and get a paycheck all season long for doing nothing. Not bad, not bad at all. Al Davis takes care of his players so this guy has nothing to worry about. As for criminal charges or a lawsuit....never happen.
He was undrafted free agent who played special teams and third string TE. Just because hes a "backup of a backup" doesnt mean hes not going to have a career. Unless you are a 1st round pick or early 2nd round pick you will be a backup/special teams. Say he doesnt have a career to lose is wrong. I dont know about you but losing $300,000 a year or more is losing a career. Thats not to mention hes young and could have the potential to eventually become a starter. Yes it does end his career, $300,000 x atleast 6 years = $1.8million. So hes out say $2million in wages(compensatory damage), he could get more in punitive damages. Do you honestly think he wont press charges? The Raiders dont want him to but if I were him, Id get real, real quick, sure he'll be able to collect his $300,000 salary, but hes gone at the end of the season, which leave him SOL.
It was an enexcusable act of violence, that was UNPROVOKED by Williams.
