I painted Bills house about 8 or 9 years ago in Gilroy CA it was about the time he left the 49ers he was a very cool guy He had just got back from visiting the Redskins and gave me the Long Hooded Jacket they wear on the sidelines.

It was kinda strange he was a very mellow guy.

Fights DO happen. ALL THE TIME in H.S. and College. It's part of the sport. A lot of it IS induced by ROIDS as well.

What's not acceptable if this crap happens in the NFL. They're professionals. They should act like it.

If a fight happens to break out, they should get their licks in and kiss and make up.

What Roma did of trying to severely injure the guy is unacceptable.............BTW, being that they're both 6'4" and 6'5", I don't see HOW Roma severely injured this guy. I bet my bottom dollar Roma hoodwinked him. I don't think he fought fairly--which makes him a dishonorable fighter.

Just what I thought!

I just read that Roma didn't like how Williams blocked him during a play in practice. As Williams jogged to the huddle, Roma yelled "Don't push me!" An instant later, Roma jumped on Williams, ripped off his helmet for leverage and leveled him with a punch. The attack was so fast, that it caught all team mates by surprise. It was AN ALL ONE-SIDED ATTACK.

Williams is a tall, stong guy. If this was a street fight, instead of a sand-bag hit, Roma wouldn't be sitting pretty without any injuries as he is today!

That guy that blind sided the Packer last year and gave him a concussion and/or put him in a short coma. He's an ass. Can't remember who it was offhand but what a freaking jerk.

Oh, noes! football players fighting

Quick bit of insight for those of you who haven't played football before. Fight's happen. You've been out there for hours, your hot, tired, maybe coach has been on your ass or you're just not happy with how you're doing, etc.. Little stuff gets very escalated. Guy's get pissed off and fights happen. The story didn't even say who started it yet everyone's on romo just cause he won. Makes sense...

I swear, it's a sad world when people criticize football players (guys who make their living hurting each other) for getting in fights

A fight is one thing, beating the sh!t out of someone and giving him a season ending injury, and in all likely hood ending his career. Romo is a piece of sh!t, hes totally classless. This guy will eventually press charges, and then file a lawsuit against Romo, as well as the Raiders. The guy should easily win $5million from Romo, who knows how much from the Raiders. It was a pure senseless act of violence, that went way to far, and Romo will hopefully pay for it. Its to bad the NFL doesnt suspend his sorry ass.
Williams was a backup, to a backup, to a backup. He really didn't have a career to lose in the first place. In fact he was about to get cut. Now he will go on the PUP list and get a paycheck all season long for doing nothing. Not bad, not bad at all. Al Davis takes care of his players so this guy has nothing to worry about. As for criminal charges or a lawsuit....never happen.

There was no fight....Romo ripped off Williams' helmet and punched him once.

Why no mention of what this guy was doing to piss off Romo? Most every player in the NFL is a sh*t talker to some extent, and while I do agree Romo is an ass, even he would need a little reason to punch a member of his own team.

You have to be asking for it to catch one from a person on your team........

PS: Dosen't the NFL have a 3 strikes and your out rule? I think one of the Broncos CB's got kicked out of the NFL last hear for repeated helmet to helmet contact.

If these were veterans, I'd agree with you.

But this Williams guy is a young nothing-to-lose-about-to-be-cut backup. He's not about to mince words with a vet. He has to PROVE himself as ateam player and ability. Williams does has something to prove by trying HARD. He probably did block Romo a little enthusisatically. But that doesn't give a vet like Romo to completely lose it in practice and sandbag the other guy.

There are no excuses. Romo should be let go.

He was undrafted free agent who played special teams and third string TE. Just because hes a "backup of a backup" doesnt mean hes not going to have a career. Unless you are a 1st round pick or early 2nd round pick you will be a backup/special teams. Say he doesnt have a career to lose is wrong. I dont know about you but losing $300,000 a year or more is losing a career. Thats not to mention hes young and could have the potential to eventually become a starter. Yes it does end his career, $300,000 x atleast 6 years = $1.8million. So hes out say $2million in wages(compensatory damage), he could get more in punitive damages. Do you honestly think he wont press charges? The Raiders dont want him to but if I were him, Id get real, real quick, sure he'll be able to collect his $300,000 salary, but hes gone at the end of the season, which leave him SOL.

It was an enexcusable act of violence, that was UNPROVOKED by Williams.

I don't know where you got the info that he was a 3rd sting TE. The Raiders TE depth chart is:

1. Doug Jolley
2. Teyo Johnson
3. David Newman.

Williams was a long shot to make the team. If you followed the Raiders like I do and have since 1976 you would know that. What happened is unfortunate, but things like that happen. People here are trying to make it out like Romo gave the guy a beating when that is not the fact, he hit him once. It was just a good shot. Plus some reports I read in SF and Oakland papers had more detail to them and had info that said it was "mutual combat" according to the police and that they refused to pursue the matter even though Williams called them. He later said he did not want to press charges anyway. However that doesn't matter. Once the police are called it is up to them to decide if action should be taken. From what I have read, not on CNNSI or ESPN, they went to the Raider facility and took statements from the other players that saw the event and interviewed Romo and Williams. In the end they decided no action was necessary. This is all much ado about nothing.

Being an asshole is a prerequesite for playing defense on the Traitors.. that and being able to chase down Wide Receivers and Running Backs that blow by you on the line of scrimmage.

In Reiley's article in the back of Sports Illustrated this week, he writes about Romo and his workout, pill addiction. This guy is a friggin nutcase. He works out / practices 13 hours a day, everyday. Takes over 150, yes 150 pills a day. Drinks 2 Gallons of water a day and four huge protein / vitamin shakes. Every week he sends out blood, urine and feces samples to get tested to make sure he has the right amount of nutrients in his body. I wish I could remember what else the article stated, but this guy is a nut.

BTW, Personally, I thought Williams, who is only making $300,000 this year (should I have really said 'only' 🙂) should have sued his ass. He coulda settled out of court for easily a million bucks.

So he's a workout freak...big deal.....I know guys like that. A good friend of mine is every bit as obsessed as Romo. He competes in body building competitions. His daily regimen and intake of vitamins, protein drinks, etc.... it amazing and would probably kill most of us. Is he a nut because of it? No, he's just dedicated.

As for the whole Williams incident....do some searching around in Bay Area newspapers....from what I've read in them it wasn't a one sided incident like some are painting it. Plus....like I said earlier...once the police are called it doesn't matter if Williams doesn't want to press charges. They can proceed on their own if they think action is justified. From what I've read they came out, interviewed the people who saw what happened, and determined there was no need for criminal action.

To anyone who has brought up Shockey: Are you just eagles fans?

I mean, granted, he has said some stupid stuff, and is a bit cocky, but hes a kid. And he did not (possibly) end the career of his own teammate. His own TEAMMATE is not seeing double vision. Dislike him you may, but equate him to Romanowski and your fooling yourself.

Unless you have some specific incident, or you know him personally, I don't see how you can judge him. Oh, maybe by the things he says? What are you, nine?
