bring out the CSI kit and dust for fingerprints, then check for dust, then check for the new card smell...maybe someone else might have some tips.

hah, i remember when i bought my card, and it gave off 'the smell' and i thought something was wrong

Some cards have oxidization on them white crusty looking stuff of the PCB. Sorta looks like someone spilt something on it and didn't clean it all the way.
