I've been playing the board game Arkham Horror with some friends, and I found myself wondering if there's ever been a decent video game released using the Cthulhu mythology.

Anyone know anything?

It's not all that hard, but I admit having to replay that section a number of times before getting the moves right. That's kind of a conventional situation in fps games, but I can see where a lot of crossover gamers would tire of having to deal with that kinda thing.

I really liked the art and atmosphere of that game. Sadly there is an unpatched fatal bug in the game very near the end so that you don't get to fully complete the game or see the epilogue.

Apart from that, I expect the game would have been more praised if it had stayed closer to the rp-adventure realm that it seemed to begin with.

Back to the OP original question though, hmm, I suppose there is no great Cthulhu game yet, but Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth comes nearest at present.

I didn't think it was hard... a bit dull if anything

The game definitely deserved its average reviews. There's a lot of potential with Cthulhu mythos, and the game just didn't live up. It was an average game, not too fun but an okay distraction at the time

OP, have you tried Eternal Darkness? It's not the Cthulhu mythos, but it's similar, and the gameplay is fantastic.

I was abut to say Eternal Darkness. It might not be straight up Cthulhu, but it is as Lovecraftian as they get.

The best part of the game is the sanity bar. Any game that you have to worry about the characters sanity on top of the health is brilliant. And nothing beats how sweet it is when you start going nutso.

Yeah Dark Corners is fun. The atmosphere really draws you in. I really like the creepiness of Innsmouth. There are some show stopping bugs which are really unfortunate - it had the makings of an amazing game. At one point, I literally couldn't go on from where I was due to a bug. Since I encountered this late into the game I had to go online and get someone who had made it past where I was and hadn't hit the bug to send me a save. But yeah pick it up, it's a a fun game.
