Has there been any word on Alan Wake?

I haven't heard anything on this game in ages. Anything new on it? Release date?

There was this:

Alan Wake! We miss you! You showed your face, got us all excited, then buggered off and haven't been seen for months. That kind of business normally leads to speculation that a game's been canned. Speculation Remedy want to dispel immediately, with a post on the game's official boards saying:

...we're still here and working hard on getting Alan Wake for you to enjoy. Sure, we've been in development for a long time and if everything had gone perfectly smoothly there probably would be a game out for you guys to play already. But designing a completely new game can be hard, and sometimes you need to take a detour to find the best route forward.

We understand. If this post had gone perfectly smoothly I'd be ending this with a quip about prolonged development schedules, instead of just leaving you hanging awkwardly.

Well with Duke Nukem Forever supposedly coming out very shortly maybe they are pushing to be the next super duper long devel cycle.

Well they don't want it to come out the same time as Duke Nukem Forever so they've probably just slowed down to match the Duke's release schedule.

My money is on Remedy, who have actually produced awesome games in the last decade. I'll toast to Broussard if he ever actually brings his DNF vaporware back from the grave, but don't bet on it.

Since it seems to be Remedy's only current in dev title, and it's being bankrolled by MS, I'd assume they are looking to get it out at some point, even if there are delays.

thats the only thing that assures me its going to come out at some point.

If it's still being produced as a Vista only game, there's no reason to release it in the near future......
