has the treo/blackberry/pocketpc phone made the PDA completely irrelevant?

i remember for a while here, everyday there would be a new thread about a PDA. lately i don't see hardly any threads on PDA's.

has the PDA become irrelevant?

that was the question, are the stand alone PDA's a thing of the past?

They probably will be shortly. I'd rather only carry one electronic device than 2.

Not entirely, but the trend is moving toward convergence. I'm rather certain there will always be a few specialty high end PDAs that are better than a pda/smartphone, such as enterprise linux PDAs like the zaurus. But for your average pda stuff, a smartphone/pda being most common is where we're headed.

i'm surprised.

i've had various PDA's and never ended up using one for any length of time.

but if i could get one where so that my phone book was integrated with my outlook with my outlook schedule and get my emails, i'd thing that would be a lot more useful than having to sync many devices.

the marriage of a pda with a cell phone seems to be an ideal one.
