Something similar just happened in Florida also. And no, it hasn't affected me... I don't smoke.

I don't mind that people smoke... but it'd be nice to go to a bar without having to wash your jeans or jacket the next day.

Yeah, I dont reek of smoke when I come back from my Wednesday lunch spot anymore.

Sure has. I had planned a trip there this summer. That until, until this nazi policy was instituted. Instead, I'm thinking of going to D.C. It's too bad that idiotic policies like this will force them to layoff even more gov't employees to meet a deficit because of lost tourism and sales money.

.

No they will make money in the long run as less people will smoke and less people will get sick and eat up tax payers money, esp. tax money that came from non-smokers

I am a LOT more likely to go to a place that has a smoking ban.

Any substantial health-care budgetary intake changes, positive or negative, are decades away. The ban represents an immediate impact, all the more so because they will be losing incredible amount of tax revenue from their draconian tobacco taxes as less people smoke (or move out of the state).

As is stands now, you still have the option of going to a club or establishment that voluntarily bans smoking, either fully or partially. NY will still get your business one way or another, unless you are some reclusive loser who won't go outside if there is a whiff of cigarette smoke...(and these people never seem to mind the thousands of tons of emissions from heavy trucks sitting idly in traffic...) NY will NOT get my business, as I will refuse to visit a state that imposes such restrictions on liberties, at least until these nazis have done this to every state except for south dakota. At which time I will move there.

I love the ban, I could care less if it inconveniences people that are inconsiderate to others and smoke in public places. If you want to kill yourself, go ahead. Don't take me along with you.

Is that ban statewide, or by county/municipality??
We just ate at a Sizzler restaurant in Ft. Myers a couple of weeks ago, and they still had a smoking section.

And I could care less about you thinking I'm inconsiderate, when its YOU who is being inconsiderate by supporting laws such as the smoking ban, when the more proper solution would be to frequent and support establishments that outlaw it voluntarily, and let other places know your feelings on the matter...but I guess that would be too...inconvienent for you, huh? :frown:
