I don't see how it could get much lower. Of course those words have been spoken before.

On a guess, I think that RAM prices will keep dropping for quite a while. Notice how it doesn't make any sense to buy less that 256MB now? 256MB is becoming the standard. Are 32MB dimms even being made any more? As memory requirements increase (ala WinXP) and the sales of memory increases, competition for all of those sales will increase, dropping prices.

You're very right that 256 is now really the minimum you should buy ... it is only about $40 for a descent stick of 256 meg PC133 mem, I myself will go with 512 because it keeps me safe for quite a while and I do some (amaturistical) CAD-designing

I've heard from one of my suppliers that ram is on the rebound starting next week, don't know if it'll hold true for any long period of time, but it's about time a shift takes place.

It's all supply and demand if manufacturers keep producing at high volumes yes ram prices will actually go down even more. I see SDRAM staying the same as ram manufacturers are now focusing on DDR SDRAM.

I beleive it will go higher going into the Christmas season, and that starts earlier each year.

The prices for computers in general are very low, they the demand is just really low now. Unless there is come big change in production of RAM or earthquake that destroys their factories, RAM prices should stay low.

Simple. It drops from $25 us to $10 US. There are 64mb chips being sold for that right now, 256mb chips will get there too. You're not surprised when Duron prices keep dropping are you? As something faster becomes available it pushed everything else below it down in price. Memory will keep going lower. You don't actually expect a 256mb to cost twice as much in two years do you? Of course not. We'll all be using a lot more than that and it'll seem like nothing (just as a 16mb stick does now). Prices drop over time. It does it with hard drives, cpus, video cards, everything. Why is everyone so suprised when it happens w/ RAM. And about the vendor saying ram is going up next week. EVERY time somebody posts this question somebody has heard that RAM will go up the next week, day, month, whatever. It never happens.
