Has the hot deals forum here pretty much dried up?

It seems like its common for the forum to only get 7-10 posts per hour, sometimes less... I don't recall it being so slow in there in the past...

Anyone else notice?

the hot deals section here has slowed down a lot.

though i did get in on a good deal for some MicroSD (1gig) for like $10 shipped

Yup. By the time it comes here, it's already been on FW and SD for an hour or two--and that's only for the really hot stuff.
 
The HD forum is what brought me to AT, but after the legal problems with coupon codes and other issues, alot of people left and I stopped frequenting it. I use SlickDeals and the AT spinoff FatWallet to find deals...

I still remember getting in on the drugstore.com $10 off $10 with Free shipping back in the day though. My poor mailman was bringing in excess of 7 packages a day to my house!

And the buy.com monitor pricing error. IIRC, They had a 17" CRT for *only* something like $200 when the going rate was something like $700 at the time... LOL

I use Techbargin. Hot deals now consist of some stupid crap like "PS3 Bundle in stock! Not sure it's legit!" Or some offer with 4 rebates
 
I use FW. Never been to SLickDeals but see it mentioned all the time. GUess I should check it out one of these days.

ROFL, Apparently I have been to SLick Deals. Couldn't find how to register so just put in my normal ID/Pass and it let me in.

I know what FW is. But what is SD?

I gotta laugh when I think about hot deals here in the 1990's. We couldn't put coupon codes on Anandtech and everyone was defecting to FatWallet to get codes.

i never viist the hotdeals i just use pricegrabber and if somehow there is a GREAT deal i findout elsewhere and by then they are all sold out anyway

Which is a great example of why there's no reason to frequent the HD forums for Hot Deals. The same topic was posted a day before on SD.
 
I still frequent the HD forum. The big difference between it and FW is that the deals here are primarily tech focussed whereas you get a lot of crap at FW that clutters up the good deals.

Realistically, I probably hit a half dozen deal sites a couple times a day just as kind of a routine and ATHD is still worth cruising.
 
for hotdeals sites, the most important thing is speed. i started from bensbargains/techbargains/AT HD, then moved on to FW, then SD.
 
ATHD has certianly seen better days. When I first joined AT because of the HD section it was booming. Value America days are long gone.
